Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) completed the quarterfinal line-up of the MCL Cup 29th Bhubaneswar Inter-School Football Tournament, pulverizing Govt High School, IRC Village 5-0 in the last league match here at Unit-VI Boys’ High School Ground today.
A matured and confident team, KISS scored all the five goals in the first hal, virtually toying with their opponents. Dolaram Dharua started the goal delute in the eighth minute and Sushant Tudu followed it with back-to-back goals in the ninth and 14th minutes. Sunil Murmu made it 4-0 in the 15th minute and Kunaram Soren rouned off the tally in the 25th minute.
After enjoying a goal feast, KISS boys did not show any hunger to score and chose to use the second half to give practice to their defence department. Kunaram Soren was adjudged the player of the match and he received the prize from government weightlifting coach Padmini Mohanty.
Today’s matches were conducted by match commissioner Maheswar Singh along with referees Saroj Moharana, Rajendra Barik, Asirbad Kanungo and Amit Nayak. After a gap of the two days, the tournament will resume with the first two quarterfinal games on August 28, followed by the other two next day.
However, one of the two reserve days will be used to stage the Jayanta Mohapatra Memorial Women’s One-day Football Tournament at Unit-VI High School Ground on August 27 (Sunday). Four teams have confirmed their entries for the tournament. They are: defending champions Urmila Football Academy, East Coast Railway, Government Sports Hostel and Nita Ambani Football Academy.
QUARTERFINAL SCHEDULE:
August 28: BJEM School vs KISS (2.30 PM) and Sainik School vs Capital High School (3.45 PM).
August 29: DPS Kalinga vs St Xavier’s, Kedargouri (2.30 PM) and Kalinga Bidyapitha vs Govt High School, Unit-2 (3.45 PM).
